Solving EPDM Rubber Surface Fading: FieldsMaster's High UV-Resistant Solutions

In the communication with customers from all over the world, we also found that many customers cannot distinguish the "yellowing" and "fading" problems of the field very well. There are two main color problems of EPDM rubber surface. One is YELLOWING and the other is COLOUR FADING. The yellowing problem is explained in detail in the previous blog.

The colour fading problem mainly comes from the EPDM rubber granules themselves. In terms of the composition of the product, EPDM rubber granules will add certain anti-ultraviolet agents and antioxidants. When the rubber content is high enough, they can work together to make the EPDM rubber field have good anti-ultraviolet radiation function. Of course, over time, the color of an EPDM rubber field will slowly fade. From the initial bright color, the color gradually fades and becomes lighter. The speed of this change depends on the quality and stability of the EPDM raw materials.

However, for some markets with particularly strong ultraviolet radiation, such as parts of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Brazil, Australia and other countries, conventional EPDM rubber particles cannot resist strong ultraviolet radiation, and the color powder in them will fade in a short period of time under strong light.

In response to the problems raised by customers, the R&D team of the FieldsMaster factory upgraded the product formula in 2016. Our anti-ultraviolet formula particles use automotive industrial grade color powder, which has strong color fastness. In the past eight years, FieldsMaster's UV-resistant EPDM granules have also been verified by the market.
