FieldsMaster's VP, David, led a team of three experienced engineers for the second time to Abu Dhabi. The construction process began with the repair and priming of the cement base. It’s crucial to note that after the base is completed, expansion joints must be created to prevent cracks caused by extreme temperatures, whether hot or cold. This step is key to ensuring that the EPDM surface lasts 5-8 years. We’ve seen many sites suffer from cracks and subsidence due to improper base treatment, but clients often struggle to identify the root cause.

If the budget allows, we recommend a surface thickness of 14mm for the basement and a 6mm top layer of EPDM. For the base layer, clients can choose the most cost-effective SBR, black EPDM, or high-elasticity EPDM, depending on their budget.

The playground at Ichiban Nursery isn’t a standard shape, so our engineers had to rely on their expertise to ensure precise lining between adjacent color blocks. With Abu Dhabi's temperatures soaring above 40°C, the curing time of PU binder was much faster than usual, demanding quick installation from the team. If the client’s installation team is slow, we can add a diluent to the binder to extend the curing time.
