· How the Yellowing Issue Happens to EPDM Rubber Surface

In the communication with customers from all over the world, we also found that many customers cannot distinguish the "yellowing" and "fading" problems of the EPDM field very well. There are two main color problems of EPDM rubber fields. One is yellowing and the other is fading. In this blog we mainly discuss on Yellowing Issue.
Simply put, the main reason for the EPDM rubber field yellowing problem is polyurethane binder. There are two main types of binder used for the construction of EPDM rubber granules, one is aromatic binder, commonly known as MDI binder, and the other is aliphatic binder. MDI binder is quite popular in the market because of its price advantage. However, due to its special chemical performance, MDI binder will turn yellow under sunlight. However, the color of the EPDM surface where aliphatic binder has been applied will not turn yellow. In short, the color of the EPDM rubber granules is almost the same as the color of the rubber surface after application.

Our FM-PU 8004 is a classic MDI glue. Over the years, we have continuously improved the formula based on continuous market feedback. It has good strength and hardness, and can resist wear and corrosion. Because the color of the EPDM granules after the construction of MDI binder will immediately turn yellow and the color will deepen, some customers will mind this color difference problem. For this reason, we have launched 21 colors of EPDM granules, which are suitable for site construction with our FM 8004 aromatic binder, which can well prevent the problem of serious color difference after the site construction is completed
Another type, FM-PU 1185 is Aliphatic binder, which has good yellowing resistance. Customers can freely choose the 62 color cards we mainly promote. After the construction of the site is completed, the site will not have a large color difference even under strong sunlight. Now FM 1185 has been widely applied in markets and proves to be a good choice for anti-yellowing.
