Addressing EPDM Flooring Discoloration: Is It Really Fading or Just Dirt?
At Fieldsmaster, we often hear concerns about EPDM rubber flooring fading, but the truth is that most of what appears to be fading is actually just a buildup of dirt. The video below is a great example of this.
In this case, we used our UV-resistant polyurethane binder FM-PU 1185 to install white EPDM granules. The project was completed on April 26th, and now, nearly three months later, the lighter colors seem to have darkened. However, after applying our specialized cleaning solution to a small area, we can clearly see that the EPDM itself hasn't changed color—the surface just got dirty from foot traffic!
So, before assuming there’s an issue with color fading, give it a clean first! If you or anyone involved in your project has concerns about discoloration, try a thorough cleaning. You might be surprised by the results.
At Fieldsmaster, we're committed to providing high-quality EPDM solutions that stand the test of time. If you have any questions about maintaining your EPDM surfaces or need help with your project, don't hesitate to reach out.
